Award-winning Santo Domingo Pueblo artist Joseph Coriz created this sterling silver with turquoise "Blessings" necklace. This significant piece showcases his signature style of Pueblo storytelling in overlay. Shooting stars, and ancient petroglyphs of sacred hands and the migration are among the symbols representing the connectedness of the celestial to the people and to their heritage. Pueblo scenes encircle the cones at the top and the barrel at the center bottom of the turquoise. The sterling barrel depicts lightning and rain showering celestial blessings over the sacred corn and the pueblo. The reversible pendant features a natural Kingman turquoise stone on one side at the center of a peaceful Pueblo in harmony (symbolized by corn, a maiden offering corn, and the healing hand reaching down from the celestial heaven). On the reverse side is the male offering. He brings the energy and power of lightning and leads the migration to their center world, safe and blessed. Pueblo scenes also include a starry night, clouds bringing rain, and 14k gold stars in the heavens. The hand-fashioned clasp at the top is set with a natural Sleeping Beauty turquoise stone. Seven-strands of stabilized Sleeping Beauty turquoise bind together the Pueblo to the earth and sky. The necklace measures 25 1/2", including the connector at the top of the necklace which measures approximately 3". The stone in the connector is approximately 1 1/2" long by almost 3/4". The reversible pendant measures 3 1/4" by 1 7/8" at the widest.
